Review:

Christopher Nolan pulls off this science fiction, family drama a lot better than I’ve seen before. When it comes to Nolan it doesn't matter what he puts out we all go into it knowing it's going to mess up our brains and give us an existential crisis. Due to the scope of this film, that was definitely the case for myself. This was a heartbreaking story about sacrifice and hope, with a great cast to make it all feel so personal. The performances truly brought the characters to life. The storyline between Murph (Jessica Chastaine) and Coop (Mathew McConaughey) was one that I found most compelling. It's a story that I feel can resonate with a lot of father/ daughter relationships. It shows what we expect of our parents and how as children, we often expect them to be our perfect heroes. I didn't realize I was such a Mathew McConaughey stan until I saw this film and then rabbitholed into all of his films. One of the most admirable things about the film was also the incredible cinematography. The shots in the film were out of this world (no pun intended), and brought so much dimension into the film. The soundtrack was another notable part of the film as it was nominated for best Original Score at the Oscars. With a fantastic score from Hans Zimmer you know it's going to be an epic story. This film was Nolan possibly at his best -in my opinion. My only regret is that I didn't catch this one in theaters. I can imagine that would have been a great and immersive experience.

Peer Review:

Not a single detail was overlooked, no matter how small. All actors gave once-in-a-lifetime performances; physics were accurate, and had a climactic ending that made the logic of the first two hours be shattered—including time and space travel. The story was fresh, but reminded of 2001 in the best possible way. All time space-fiction—and maybe fiction—favorite! - @criatobalrgh (letterboxd)
